Lipo in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa, Glendale, Paradise Valley, Gilbert, and Surrounding AZ Cities
Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States, and one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries by Scottsdale, AZ plastic surgeon Dr. Jude LaBarbera. The distribution of fat cells in your body is influenced by genetics and many people have pockets of fat around the thighs, abdomen, buttocks, upper arms, cheeks, and neck. These tend to be extremely hard to get rid of, as most individuals realize that exercise and a proper diet are just not enough. Liposuction cosmetic surgery aims to permanently eliminate these fat and cellulite deposits. Since liposuction can remove excess fat from any targeted part of the body, it’s a procedure of choice among many cosmetic surgeons and patients. Dr. Jude LaBarbera uses liposuction to help achieve contour improvements in the upper arms, face, neck, abdomen, and other areas of the body.
Although liposuction is very popular with patients who are looking to achieve a slimmer contour, it’s not an appropriate method for achieving weight loss. Dr. LaBarbera and many Scottsdale, AZ liposuction surgeons recommend that individuals receiving this procedure should be at or near a stabilized weight.

Benefits of Liposuction
1. Provides another alternative to more invasive plastic surgery when it comes to eliminating fat from targeted parts of the body. Liposuction is often used to trim down fat in the abdomen, chin, thighs, and enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia) – all without large incision scars.
2. Can be performed in conjunction with other procedures – for instance, enhances the results of facial surgery procedures such as the facelift by eliminating pockets of fat under the chin
3. Contours stubborn areas that do not respond to diet and exercise – and thus can be used to amplify these efforts

Liposuction may be performed as a standalone surgery, or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures. If Dr. Jude LaBarbera feels it is necessary for the safety of the patient, he may suggest performing the procedure over a period of time. Once the surgery is complete, patients must wear a compression garment that helps the body adjust to its newfound shape. Bruising and swelling are common but subside within a week. Following a liposuction procedure, patients need to weight for several months before they can see the final results. Liposuction will also leave a small scar that fades over time.
Dr.Jude LaBarbera offers various surgical methods for liposuction patients in Gilbert, Scottsdale, Phoenix, and the surrounding Arizona areas. Depending on the condition of the patient, the expected results and the type of liposuction method used, this procedure may be performed as an outpatient procedure. In severe cases, an overnight stay may be required. Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Jude LaBarbera will make small incisions and use a special device (cannula) to remove excessive amounts of fat in specific areas. How long the procedure takes to complete will vary depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed. Depending on the circumstances around each case, Dr. Jude LaBarbera may choose to use a Tumescent ‘Super Wet’ approach, a Power Assisted, or a Laser Assisted Liposuction. During your in-person visit, your surgeon will explain the available options, and help choose the best method for you.
Planning your procedure
The cost of liposuction cosmetic surgery varies widely from one patient to the other – usually depending on the extent of work and surgical technique that needs to be used. Most patients in the Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa, and Gilbert, AZ area pay between $3,000 and $12,000 for this procedure. If liposuction is performed in conjunction with another procedure, the price can vary significantly. Since liposuction is a cosmetic procedure, it’s not typically covered by insurance.

Is liposuction a safe procedure?
Liposuction is a complex procedure that requires the hands of a highly skilled surgeon. Dr. Jude LaBarbera uses the latest surgical techniques and makes safety a priority. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for all surgeons. It’s the responsibility of every patient to make sure that they are working with a highly skilled and experienced liposuction surgeon.
Does liposuction lead to permanent results?
Once the procedure is complete, it’ll take a couple of months before the patient can see the final results. Since removed fat cells do not return, the results may permanent, but cannot be promised due to the patients genetics, body, and lifestyle choices. Results are the most permanent when the patient is exercising regularly and maintaining a proper diet. However, in cases where patients regain weight after the procedure, fat cells which were not removed will grow and this will negatively impact the results of the procedure.
Does liposuction tighten skin?
The goal of liposuction is to remove excessive fat in trouble areas (thus improving the shape and contouring). It does not address the drooping or sagging skin that may be left behind. If skin laxity is a problem, patients are advised to talk to their cosmetic surgeon during their consultation visit. Options for improving skin texture such as tummy tuck, thigh lift, neck lift, arm, and butt lifts are available.
