Jude LaBarbera, MD Plastic Surgery, performs rhinoplasty at his ultra-modern in-office operating room in Scottsdale or Gilbert, AZ. He is supported by a team of highly professional and licensed staff. The plan for each nose job surgery is created based on the needs of the patient. There are various surgical techniques available for patients to get the look they want.
a) Closed rhinoplasty – an incision is made inside the nose through the nostrils. This procedure is very commonly used for patients who need just minor reshaping. Since there are no scars after closed rhinoplasty, this is usually the best approach to begin with for optimal results. However, for cases that are more severe, the surgeon may recommend open rhinoplasty.
b) Open rhinoplasty – during open rhinoplasty surgery, an incision is made between the nostrils and the fold of the nose just above the lips. This provides the surgeon with a better view of the nasal structures, and it’s easier for him to manipulate the cartilage and bone. The surgeon will peel the skin back and reveal the internal structures of the nose, which are then re-draped after the desired shape has been accomplished. Typically, this procedure will leave a very thin scar, about 5mm long.
c) Non-invasive rhinoplasty – some patients may require injectable fillers to achieve their desired results. Injectable nose fillers are non surgical and not permanent. These come in a variety of liquids, and fat transfer may also be used in some cases. Fillers help add volume to conceal minor deformities such as bony appearance, or a bump.
Dr. LaBarbera works with each patient to find to find the surgical option that will offer the most benefits.

WHAT IS A NASAL PACK?
A nasal pack helps with bleeding, particularly where the surgery being performed involves the septum. Cotton packs or a gauze are placed inside the nasal chamber throughout this process. Patients may find it uncomfortable, but the packing is used just temporarily during the recovery phase.
IS RHINOPLASTY RISKY?
Like all other surgeries, rhinoplasty comes with some form of risk. The best safeguard patients can take to avoid these risks and complications is to select a highly experienced surgeon.
SURGICAL OR NONSURGICAL?
Whether to use a surgical or a non-surgical procedure will depend on the aesthetic results that are expected, as well as the patient’s nasal structure. When extensive reshaping is required, most surgeons prefer a surgical approach. Non-surgical reshaping is typically used in situations where only minor adjustments are required. During your initial consultation with Dr. Jude LaBarbera, the most beneficial procedure for you will be discussed.
