Training & Qualifications

A native of Amite, Louisiana, Dr. LaBarbera attended Louisiana State University for his undergraduate studies, and he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. LaBarbera’s outstanding surgical training began with a complete five-year general surgery residency at Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center (now Banner University Medical Center). He then completed an additional plastic surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. During both of his surgical residencies, Dr. LaBarbera demonstrated the leadership and skills necessary to achieve Chief Resident status. Jude LaBarbera, MD is fully-trained and board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). As a board-certified plastic surgeon Phoenix can count on, he is a member of ASPS and board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (ABPS). Dr. LaBarbera has received special training in breast revision surgery and the highly technical field of microsurgery. He has authored publications and presentations on a variety of important subjects, including ways to minimize the scars that result from surgical procedures performed on different parts of the body.
